Quick update about a problem affecting factions Doskii - 2015-01-06

There was a server crash today (or yesterday) due to a terminal duplicating itself for a few hours that somehow caused all of the configurations to reset for a brief moment causing all kinds of chaos which most of was quickly fixed by using a backup, except for one, factions. The symptom that was caused by this was that everybody who had been inactive for a certain amount of days was removed from their faction (except for the faction leaders I think). This was caused by a rather stupid decision made by the creators of "Factions" that placed all of the configurations and player files outside of the normal folder which made it excluded from the normally scheduled backups, so I didn't have any backups I could use.

This problem should not come up again as I've include the folder in the automated scheduled backups. If you have been affected you can try to join your faction again or ask the faction leader, officers or even a server Admin to re-invite you to your faction. As far as I know the claimed areas of land has not been unclaimed by this incident.

1.8, finally, and other things Doskii - 2014-12-14

1.8 has worked for a while now thanks to a protocol hack but it didn't have exactly everything that 1.8 has until now. You might not even notice a difference right away as the hack did a pretty good job at mimicking 1.8, but things like slime blocks not moving several blocks as it should has been fixed and so forth. But with updates come bugs, for some reason all the private signs stopped working. The first line on all the signs changed from "[Private]" to "Private" and I wasn't able to solve this problem because I didn't know what was causing it so I quickly created a temporary plugin to temporary fix the issue. It basically changes the private signs so that they work correctly again when you are trying to open the locked container. I would recommend that you right click all of your chests and doors to make sure they are properly locked.

Now let's quickly talk about something else. Spleef has been dead for about a week because it was trapping people and refusing to let them go, so I had to kill it. But now it's back, and with less bugs! And also a new map has been made by cckjellis and a bunch of other people (I did the roof :3) for everybody to enjoy. Just want to remind you that everybody can make arenas and maps for the minigames, as long as they are good of course.

And the last thing, we have decorated the hub a bit for Christmas again including a fun little parkour (hidden in the Christmas tree) with a reward at the top. Just in case you haven't noticed :P.

[Edit] I forgot to mention, the live map is back online as well :D

More support for 1.8 and why it takes so long Doskii - 2014-11-01

1.8 was released on the 2nd September and as you might have noticed most modded servers including this one don't really support 1.8 completely, sure you can connect with 1.8 and you can see titles in the middle of your screen but it doesn't have all of the blocks and features that 1.8 has. I'm not going to fully explain exactly what is happening and it isn't completely clear what is happening either so I'm just going to summary it. Bukkit (which is what basically all servers and a bunch of other server software (except vanilla) are based upon or depend on) contained a lot of code from somebody called Wesley Wolfe who for some reason became mad and sued bukkit and everything else that uses or depends on it meaning that it is now illegal to upload anything that has Wesley's code in it. Bukkit now seems dead as most of its workers have left the project, Mojang said that they would update it themselves but nobody has heard from them since they said that just before the DMCA takedown.

The server software that this server uses is working on updating bukkit themselves but that takes a long time because they haven't done it before (I think) and 1.8 has a bunch of changed code that they need to deobfuscate (if you are a programmer then you probably know that this isn't fun and easy) and create new API's for it. The estimated time of finishing it is somewhere between early November and late December as I've mentioned before on the server.

Now let's get to good news, somebody made a hack that enables some of the 1.8 blocks and features. It, of course does not mean that it is completely flawless and bug free but it is at least something. I have tested it a bit and it seems to work but I don't recommend using armor stands yet as they seem to disappear sometimes and it would of course not be fun to lose your armor :P.

Support for 1.8 and new pvp war map! Doskii - 2014-09-12

As usual Minecraft updates take some time before they get to the server and because of some legal reasons floating around on the internet it might take a while longer. But we can now support 1.8 clients to connect to the server, and when I say support I mean that you can join with 1.8 but the server is still acting like 1.7 so you can't do any of the new things just yet. How long it will take before we can fully update to 1.8 is still unknown but we will update as soon as we can.

At the same time as we added support for 1.8, emilp2009 finished a little CTF map for PVP War. The map is nether themed, 10 (might change) player capture the flag. The objective is simple, you and your team has to fight your way to the enemy team to steal their flag and then run back to your teams flag to gain a point. The first team to gain all the points wins the game. You can also get points by killing the enemy enough times.

To join this new map you have to simply type /war and then go through the "ep_lava_place" gate. From there you can choose the team you want and then start fighting :D.

Enjoy and have fun.

New MiniGame! PVP War Doskii - 2014-07-07

Yesterday a new minigame has been added to the server called PVP War. It contains "Team death match", "Free-For-All", "capture the flag" and more pvp based games! At the moment one map has been created for it called jungle_TDM (might be renamed at some point) and has been created by i_not_i, hampan101 and with a little help by me (Doskii). As the title has already revealed the map has Team death match and is a jungle themed map. There are two teams Diamond and Gold, the teams will have to kill eat other by killing the other team with a sword, shooting them of the edge so they fall or any other way you might think of.

The minigame can be found on the new floor in the hub (/hub) and is labeled "PVP War" but the name might possibly change as we aren't quite sure about it yet.
